Administrative Board 2011
We are excited to welcome Chris Gabriel as head of our 2011 Administrative Board. At our first meeting in January, he set forth this year’s theme as “Come Forward.” Based in scripture, the theme of “Come Forward” will frame our work in the upcoming year. We are excited to welcome Chris Gabriel as head of our 2011 Administrative Board. At our first meeting in January, he set forth this year’s theme as “Come Forward.” Based in scripture, the theme of “Come Forward” will frame our work in the upcoming year. The following is an excerpt of Chris’ message from that first meeting:“Come Forward” suggests reporting for duty. Like Isaiah responding to God’s call, we say “Here I am; send me.” There is also encouragement in these words. It is possible to overcome any obstacle for God’s sake. Surely, knowing that we are able as Christ’s disciples to draw upon this same divine power can give us courage to act on God’s behalf in any circumstances. Finally, there is an undeniable optimism in this request. We might insert a friendly pause and a wave and say, “Come -- forward.” This is an invitation to a journey for which we don’t know the precise destination but which we embark upon in hope and with the security of God’s promises. The passage from Hebrews reminds us of our ancestors in faith. Abraham left everything behind “not knowing where he was going.”
Come forward. Be present. Be positive. Be purposeful. We all are here to further God’s will through the instrument that is Peachtree Road United Methodist Church. Strengthen and nurture it so that PRUMC is a beacon by which others are drawn to and inspired by God. Doing so will improve the lives of thousands of people and will have ripple effects throughout our
community and the world.
