Every 60 seconds a child in Africa dies from Malaria. The unemployment rate in the nation of Georgia is 80%. Because parents cannot care for their children, the number of social orphans rises each day. The average paycheck in Nicaragua is $2 per day. The unemployment rate is 53%. One in three children is malnourished. Almost half the population of Honduras lives in extreme poverty. Sanitation is the main focus of most aid projects in that country. Cholera, Dysentery and Typhoid – 3 of the 5 top killers in the world – come from drinking dirty water.
These are the reasons that PRUMC supports global missions. A small trip with a few supplies can make a huge difference to people in great need. Through our work and partnerships, we are able to empower people with self-sustaining, life-saving projects.
PRUMC sends over 100 members on global mission trips each year. We build homes, give love to children, create self-sustaining projects and share the love of Christ. Each year promises to bring even more opportunities and meaningful mission trips to our church. Great things happen when we listen to God’s call and have a heart to serve. Whether you are contemplating a mission trip for the first time, or are a veteran trip participant, we know we can all make a difference together. Make missions your next step to experiencing God in a whole new way.
