“Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.” John 12:24
Life-giving God, in you all things move, exist, and have their being. You are the giver and sustainer of life, and you permeate all creation with your life-giving presence. You have called each of us into the dance of life with you, and you stretch your hands out to us, leading the way. To participate in this holy dance of abundant and full life requires us to let go of our old ways of living and to die to self, so we can live anew to, and with you. God of all life, we must admit that it is hard to let go of our old ways of comfort, and even harder still to give up our way of living. Yet, we know that just as how a seed becomes a plant only because it had died, so too we will know true life because we have surrendered our life to you.
Help us now we pray to strip away all that would hinder us from surrendering to you, so we can continue the journey to the cross.
All this we pray through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who has gone ahead of us.
