PRUMC in partnership with the Olmsted Plein Air Invitational is thrilled to welcome international artist Jill Steenhuis to share the journey of her faith. During this special webinar from her home in France, international artist Jill Steenhuis will share her artistic talents and the story of her faith journey with us and audience members from around the world. Jill, an Atlanta native, will speak, paint, and answer questions during this “afternoon in Provence!”
Jill Steenhuis is an American-born French Impressionistic painter based in the South of France, specializing in oil painting, lithography and watercolor.
An Atlanta native, Jill lived in Aix-en-Provence, France, since 1980, painting in the landscapes of Provence. After graduating from Sweet Briar College with a BFA in studio art, she attended The Leo Marchutz School of Painting and Drawing in Aix. In the 1980’s and 90’s, Jill was one of the rare artists to have a studio at the Château Noir, where Cézanne had his studio in the late 19th century.
“I paint “en plein air devant le motif” (outdoor painting on the site) in order to listen to nature and use my eyes to see, engaging my senses to perceive the parallel between nature and eternity.”
