Rachmaninoff’s All-Night Vigil
J.D. Burnett, conductor
Comprising some of the finest ensemble and solo singers in the country, Kinnara is one of the nation’s premier professional chamber choirs. Under the direction of J.D. Burnett, who also serves as Associate Director of Choral Activities at the University of Georgia, the choir performs a wide variety of standard choral repertoire from all eras. Kinnara strives to honor the capacious choral tradition with exemplary choral experiences that speak to the modern soul.
Rachmaninoff’s All-Night Vigil is contemplative, intense, and overwhelmingly devotional. It is an other-worldly spectrum of religious sensibility, and comes through as very fervent and full. It’s incredibly sacred and there isn’t another work like it in the choral repertoire. Join nationally-renowned professional chamber choir, Kinnara, for a candlelit hour of this exceptional piece in one of the most beautiful sacred spaces in the country, the PRUMC sanctuary.
General Admission | $30 in advance / $35 day of concert
