We will focus on healthy aging and discuss ways to enhance our well-being through behaviors that promote resilience and adaptation. Dr. Andrea DeWalt from our Pastoral Counseling Service will lead our discussion. The dynamic panel will include Rev. Ron Greer\, Carolyn Curry\, and Gayle Cummings.\n\nLunch will be provided for all registered attendees. For more information\, please contact Rev. Emily Miles at emilym@prumc.org.\n\n\nFacilitator and Panelist Biographies\nDr. Andrea DeWalt\nAndrea DeWalt\, Ph. D.\, is a licensed psychologist and has worked extensively in the field for the past twenty years. She has been an affiliate therapist with the Pastoral Counseling Service since 2009 before joining as a full-time psychologist in 2012. She received her Doctorate in Educational Psychology in 1999 from the University of Georgia. She also has her M. Ed. from Radford University and a B. S. from Virginia Tech\, both in Psychology. n addition to the school setting\, Andrea received training in the clinical field in a day treatment center in Houston\, Texas. he has been working with families\, children\, and adults to offer a full range of services\, including academic assessment\, as well as individual\, couples\, and family therapy for children\, adolescents\, and adults. \nRev. Ron Greer\nRon Greer\, Director\, has been with the Pastoral Counseling Service for over thirty years. He is a Fellow of the American Association of Pastoral Counselors\, a Clinical Fellow of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy\, and licensed by the State of Georgia as a Marriage and Family Therapist.  He received his Master of Divinity from the Candler School of Theology at Emory University and a Th. M. in pastoral counseling from Columbia Theological Seminary. \nCarolyn Curry\nDr. Carolyn Curry is an author\, historian\, and teacher. She has a BA from Agnes Scott College and a M.A. and Ph.D. from Georgia State University. She has taught at Westminster and the University of Kentucky. In 2014 she published Suffer and Grow Strong: The Life of Ella Gertrude Clanton Thomas 1834-1907 which won Georgia Author of the Year Award and was selected as One of the Books All Georgians Should Read by the Center for the Book. In 2019 she published her first novel\, Sudden Death\, which is a murder mystery set in the world of football. Her next book\, Trudy’s Awakening\, a historical novel\, is scheduled to come out in September of 2025. Whether writing about the past or present\, her primary interest is the well-being of women. In 2002\, Curry also founded a non-profit foundation\, Women Alone Together®\, which she directed for twenty-two years. Through seminars\, book programs\, and special events\, the goal was to help women who were alone because of death of spouse\, divorce from spouse\, alone by choice\, or alone because of separation disease or estrangement\, however\, all women were invited. Through the years\, Carolyn has served on a wide variety of boards. In Lexington\, Kentucky\, she was on the board at Cardinal Hill Hospital. In Georgia\, she has served on the boards at Tallulah Falls School and Young Harris College. Currently\, she is on the Advisory Board of Breakthru House.  Carolyn and her husband Bill are parents of two children. Dr. Kristin Hunter teaches at Westminster. She and her husband Bob have two daughters. Their son Bill Curry\, Jr. works for Boston Scientific\, and lives in Charlottesville\, Virgina. He and his wife Kelly have five boys. Carolyn and Bill Curry have been married for sixty-two years. \nGayle Cummings\nGayle Cummings is a retired elementary school teacher with life experiences that have challenged her to continue to evolve\, benefiting her own well-being. She is a beloved and active member of many groups at PRUMC including the One Lamb Committee\, the flower guild (which she co-founded years ago)\, a bible study class\, the Christmas Kindness coat brigade\, and the prison ministry and she is proud to have served on the Administrative Board\, Council on Ministries and with the Stephen Ministers. She adores family activities\, including traveling\, and regularly enjoys yoga\, bridge\, mahjong\, gardening and reading. Gayle’s role as a caregiver\, an active volunteer\, and someone committed to mental wellness make her someone to learn from!
