A few summers ago we welcomed Karla’s friend (and Methodist preacher’s kid!), film maker John Summerour to PRUMC to discuss a screening of his film, Sahkanaga. John has a new short film out called Saultopaul that will be screening in a competition at the Atlanta Film Festival on Saturday, April 9th, at 2:30 pm.
He writes this: “As the title suggests, it’s about transformation, looking at three generations of one family and their 1100-acre farm in northwest Georgia as they begin to confront the reality of passing time and mortality. It’s a tapestry of memory, insight, lessons learned and hopes for the future, centered around the 80th birthday of the family patriarch, who is a self-styled intellectual cowboy. If any of you work with small groups that like to take cultural outings, I think this would be a great fit, and the other films in the program look very interesting and substantive.”
