The Chancel Choir is made up of adults age 18 and above, and serves as the principal musical leadership for the 11:15 am worship experience. The choir also presents several concerts each season for members of the PRUMC community and the city of Atlanta. Among these are Handel’s Messiah, Brahms’ Ein Deutches Requiem, as well as new and commissioned works. Every other year, this nationally recognized choral ensemble embarks on a European concert tour performing at the great cathedrals including Notre Dame, Chartres, and St. Paul’s. The Chancel Choir is always looking for new members. No audition is necessary, but an interview with the Director of Music is requested. Child care is available during rehearsal times. The Parish Choir serves as the principal musical leadership for the 8:45 am worship experience. Sunday School classes are invited to sing a service (with rehearsal the Thursday before) with the Parish Choir. It also acts as a family choir; teenagers are invited to sing with their parents. The choir presents a service of Lessons and Carols on the third Sunday in December every year. The Parish Choir is always looking for new members. No previous experience necessary! The Chamber Singers

The Chamber Singers is an auditioned ensemble drawing its membership from the PRUMC Chancel Choir. This ensemble of around fifteen voices concentrates on the music of the early church, but draws its repertoire from all periods of musical composition. A pilgrimage is a journey or search for a place of importance to a person’s belief and faith, although it can be a metaphorical journey into someone’s own beliefs. It is my thought that each of our lives are on a great pilgrimage striving to not be at the same place we started. Through worship and music at Peachtree Road United Methodist Church we are taken each week to a higher place in the greater Kingdom of God, moving together as the body of Christ.
PRUMC is proud and fortunate to share a relationship with the Georgia Boy Choir, our choir-in-residence. The purpose of the Georgia Boy Choir is to achieve the highest possible standard of musical excellence, while instilling in its members a life-long appreciation of music; an abiding love of beauty; a keen sense of respect for themselves and others; and the self-discipline necessary to become effective leaders in their families, their communities and the world.
In addition to presenting an annual Christmas concert and spring festival, the choir presents music during worship several times each year.
This page has been created especially for choirs who may wish to visit and perform at Peachtree Road United Methodist Church. You will find below our guidelines for visiting choirs as well as a request form that you may print out and mail to us with a recording of your choir. We are always excited to have special guests at our worship services and hope you find the following information useful.
Guidelines for Choirs Visiting Peachtree Road
Visiting Choirs may sing no more than 20 minutes of music prior to the Sunday Worship Services. Rehearsal times in the Sanctuary begin at 8:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
Choirs will sing from the Chancel steps in front of the altar.
Music sung is to be sacred and a cappella. Also keep in mind the liturgical season (no alleluias during Lent, etc.) when choosing your program.
Choirs are asked to dress formal – either robes or concert black (long, dark dresses, dark coat and tie).
Choirs are invited to stay for the Worship Service and listen to our nationally acclaimed music program – an experience you won’t want to miss! Reserved seating will be available.
If your choir is interested in visiting Peachtree Road United Methodist Church, please print out and complete this request form and mail back to us with a recent recording of your choir.
