William Cope Moyers
Sunday, November 14, 5:00 pm, PRUMC Sanctuary
William C. Moyers is the vice president of public affairs and community relations for the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation. His best-selling memoir “Broken” intimately chronicles his personal experience of addiction, recovery and redemption. We are honored to welcome him as our special guest speaker as part of our One Lamb mental health initiative.
“Addiction is a disease of the brain. It is not a moral failing.”
If we haven’t experienced chemical dependency ourselves, how could we perceive its consuming power? This year we will strive to educate ourselves on what is myth, what is truth in the world of this disease. We will come together as a congregation and community to take a tremendous step in understanding addiction.
In order to normalize and destigmatize mental health concerns, the One Lamb Initiative hopes to make mental wellness an ongoing conversation. One Lamb will delve deeply into various topics regarding mental health and provide educational resources, inspirational stories, spiritual guidance, and small group lessons. In doing so, we hope to nurture mental wellness through a community of connection, support, and spiritual growth.
