SUMMARY:Sunday Worship: We Are Grateful for the Church
DESCRIPTION:Rev. Bill Britt\, preaching \nWe Are Grateful for the Church\n-In Philippians 4:4-9\, Paul offers encouragement to live with joy\, gentleness\, prayer\, and peace—fixing our minds on what is true\, noble\, and praiseworthy. This passage teaches us that the strength of the church begins with the character of its people\, shaped by gratitude\, trust in God\, and a focus on what uplifts and unites. Through this message\, we are reminded that when the church lives out these virtues\, it becomes a powerful witness to God’s presence and peace in the world. \n8:45\, 10:00 & 11:15 am services \n  \n\n  \nThis Sunday is part of the Thanksgiving Series:  \nWe are Thankful…\nIn this season of thanksgiving\, we pause to remember the people\, places\, and promises that shape our lives and strengthen our faith. Through Scripture and shared reflection\, we’ll give thanks for the saints who came before us\, the Church that holds us\, the people who walk beside us\, and the blessings that sustain us. As we open our hearts in gratitude\, we are reminded that thanksgiving is more than a holiday—it’s a way of life rooted in God’s abundant grace. \nNovember 16 | Philippians 1:3-11 | For One Another\nNovember 23 | John 6:25-35 | For All God’s Blessings \n

DESCRIPTION:Rev. SUMMARY:Sunday Worship: Have Mercy
DESCRIPTION:Rev. Bill Britt preaching \nHave Mercy\n-In Luke 18:9-14\, Jesus tells the parable of the Pharisee and the tax collector to show that true righteousness comes not from pride\, but from humility and a sincere cry for mercy. This passage teaches us that God honors the honest heart—one that recognizes its need for grace and depends fully on God’s compassion. Through this message\, we are reminded that mercy is not earned but received\, and that spiritual strength begins with humility before God. \n8:45\, 10:00 & 11:15 am services

SUMMARY:Sunday Worship: The Generous Harvest
DESCRIPTION:Rev. Bill Britt\, preaching \nThe Generous Harvest\nIn II Corinthians 9:6-15\, Paul reminds us that generosity is both a blessing and a reflection of God’s grace at work within us. He writes that “whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly\, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.” Giving\, Paul says\, should come from a cheerful heart\, not from obligation\, for God loves a joyful giver. Through our generosity\, God provides abundantly so that we may share God’s blessings with others. When we give\, it not only meets needs but also inspires thanksgiving to God and strengthens the bonds of faith among believers. \n8:45\, 10:00 & 11:15 am services \n  \n\n  \nThis Sunday is part of the Stewardship Series: \nThe Fruitful Life\nGod desires a life of abundance—not in possessions\, but in purpose\, transformation\, and blessing. In this stewardship series\, we’ll reflect on how God’s presence can change us\, how growth takes root through faith\, and how generosity bears fruit that blesses others. As we consider what it means to live a fruitful life\, we are invited to give not out of obligation\, but out of gratitude for all that God is doing in us and through us. \n

SUMMARY:Sunday Worship: Preparing for Growth
DESCRIPTION:Rev. Bill Britt\, preaching \nPreparing for Growth\n-In John 15:1-6\, Jesus describes Himself as the true vine and calls us to remain connected to Him\, allowing God to prune and shape us for greater fruitfulness. This passage teaches that spiritual growth requires both abiding in Christ and being open to change\, even when it’s uncomfortable. Through this message\, we are reminded that God prepares us for growth by nurturing our faith\, refining our lives\, and helping us bear lasting\, life-giving fruit. \n8:45\, 10:00 & 11:15 am services \n  \n\n  \nThis Sunday is part of the Stewardship Series: \nThe Fruitful Life\nGod desires a life of abundance—not in possessions\, but in purpose\, transformation\, and blessing. SUMMARY:Sunday Worship: God's Transforming Power
DESCRIPTION:Rev. Bill Britt\, preaching \nGod’s Transforming Power\n-In John 2:1-10\, Jesus turns water into wine at a wedding in Cana\, revealing His glory through a quiet but powerful act of transformation. This passage teaches us that God’s presence can bring unexpected joy\, abundance\, and renewal—even in the ordinary moments of life. SUMMARY:Sunday Worship: Be One
DESCRIPTION:Rev. Bill Britt\, preaching \nBe One\n-In John 17:20-26\, Jesus prays for future believers to be united in love and purpose\, just as He is one with God. This passage teaches us that unity is at the heart of Christ’s vision for the Church—a unity that reflects divine love and draws the world toward God. Through this message\, we are reminded that being one in faith doesn’t mean uniformity\, but a shared commitment to live in love\, grace\, and mutual care as the body of Christ. \n8:45\, 10:00 & 11:15 am services \n  \n\n  \nThis Sunday is part of the Fall Series: \nWhat does the Lord Require\nDrawing from the prophetic call in Micah 6:8\, this series explores the core values of a faithful life: doing justice\, loving kindness\, and walking humbly with God. Through the teachings of Jesus and the witness of Scripture\, we’ll discover that these aren’t abstract ideals—they are daily invitations to live with purpose\, compassion\, and unity. As we seek to follow Christ more fully\, we’ll be challenged to embody a faith that is active\, grounded in love\, and lived out in community with others. \n

SUMMARY:Sunday Worship: Walk Humbly with God
DESCRIPTION:Rev. Bill Britt\, preaching \nWalk Humbly with God\n-In Matthew 18:1-5\, Jesus responds to a question about greatness by lifting up the humility and trust of a child as the true model of life in God’s kingdom. SUMMARY:Sunday Worship: Love Kindness
DESCRIPTION:Rev. Bill Britt\, preaching \nLove Kindness\n-In Luke 6:27-36\, Jesus calls us to love our enemies\, do good to those who mistreat us\, and show mercy just as God is merciful. SUMMARY:Sunday Worship: Do Justice
DESCRIPTION:Rev. Bill Britt\, preaching \nDo Justice\n-In Luke 4:16-21\, Jesus reads from Isaiah and boldly declares that He has come to bring good news to the poor\, freedom to the oppressed\, and sight to the blind—fulfilling God’s vision of justice and mercy. This passage teaches us that following Christ means actively participating in that mission\, seeking justice\, compassion\, and restoration in our own lives and communities. Through this message\, we are challenged and inspired to align our faith with action\, becoming bearers of God’s justice in the world today. \nSeptember 7 | Luke 4:16-21 | Do Justice\nSeptember 14 | Luke 6:27-36 | Love Kindness\nSeptember 21 | Matthew 18:1-5 | Walk Humbly with God\nSeptember 28 | John 17:20-26 | Be One \n

DESCRIPTION:Rev. Elizabeth Byrd\, preaching \nMoses: The Power of “Go”\n– In Exodus 3:1-10\, God calls Moses from the burning bush\, turning an ordinary moment into a divine summons to lead others to freedom. SUMMARY:Sunday Worship: Faith That Cannot Be Distracted
DESCRIPTION:Rev. Bill Britt preaching \nFaith That Cannot Be Distracted\n– In Luke 9:51-62\, Jesus sets His face toward Jerusalem\, fully committed to His mission\, and calls His followers to a similar undivided focus. He challenges those who would follow Him to count the cost\, warning that true discipleship requires leaving behind distractions\, excuses\, and divided loyalties. This sermon will encourage us to cultivate a faith that stays steady and clear\, even when the path is difficult. We are reminded that following Christ means placing God above all else\, trusting that the journey with God is worth every sacrifice. \n8:45\, 10:00 & 11:15 am services

SUMMARY:Commemorative Worship with Bishop Robin Dease
DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, June 1\, 2025\n8:45\, 10:00\, and 11:15 am\nSomeone in the Crowd  |  Luke 11:27-28\nIn “Someone in the Crowd\,” Jesus is interrupted by a woman who blesses His mother for bearing Him\, but He redirects the focus\, saying\, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.” This brief but powerful exchange reminds us that true discipleship isn’t about proximity to holiness—it’s about faithful response to God’s Word. Jesus shifts the spotlight from admiration to action\, from sentiment to spiritual obedience. In a world full of noise and distraction\, He calls us to be more than spectators—to become listeners and doers. This passage invites us to reflect on our place in the crowd: Are we simply watching\, or are we truly following? \nOn June 7\, 1925\, the first public worship service of Peachtree Road United Methodist Church was held in a partially completed chapel. From those humble beginnings\, our church has grown to become one of the largest in Methodism. We are privileged to be a part of the brilliant ministry that has taken place here over the past century. Please join us to reflect on our rich history\, give thanks to God\, and anticipate our bright future. We are honored that the final worship services of the Centennial year will be led by Bishop Robin Dease. Come celebrate all we have accomplished\, and look forward to exciting days and good work ahead. \nMembers of Peachtree Road 50+ Years\nSunday\, June 1\, Narthex\nHave you been a member of Peachtree Road UMC for 50 years or more? The Centennial Committee would like to celebrate you during our Commemorative Worship Service on June 1! Show your pride as a longtime member by stopping by the Information Desk in the Narthex before worship to pick up your special member ribbon. \nRed Lot 1 Closed June 1\nRed Lot 1 will be closed on Sunday\, June 1\, to accommodate visiting dignitaries. We kindly ask all members and guests to plan accordingly and use alternate parking areas on that day. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we extend hospitality to our special visitors.
