SUMMARY:Sunday Worship: The Wesleyan Way - The Turning Point
DESCRIPTION:Rev. Bill Britt preaching \nThe Turning Point\n– In Ephesians 2:8-10\, Paul reminds us that we are saved by grace through faith—not by our own efforts\, but as a gift from God—and created for lives of meaningful purpose. This passage teaches us that the turning point in our lives comes when we recognize that our worth and future are rooted in God’s love\, not in what we achieve. Through this message\, we are invited to live as God’s workmanship\, embracing the good works we are uniquely called and empowered to do. \n8:45\, 10:00 & 11:15 am services \n  \n\n  \nThis Sunday is part of the Methodist Sermon Series: \nThe Wesleyan Way\nRooted in Scripture and shaped by the grace-filled theology of John Wesley\, this series invites us to explore what it means to live a life of faith from beginning to end—and every step in between. Through messages on grace\, transformation\, perseverance\, and eternal hope\, we’ll reflect on how God meets us where we are\, calls us into purposeful living\, and sustains us with the Spirit’s power. As we journey through The Wesleyan Way\, we’ll discover that the Christian life is not a single moment\, but a lifelong path of growing in love\, doing good\, and staying grounded in hope. \nAugust 3 | Romans 5:6-11 | The Power to Begin\nAugust 10 | Ephesians 2:8-10 | The Turning Point\nAugust 17 | Revelation 22:1-7 | The End of the Journey\nAugust 24 | Galatians 5:22-23 | Don’t Stop Now \n

DESCRIPTION:Rev. SUMMARY:Sunday Worship: Moses - The Power of “Go”
DESCRIPTION:Rev. Elizabeth Byrd\, preaching \nMoses: The Power of “Go”\n– In Exodus 3:1-10\, God calls Moses from the burning bush\, turning an ordinary moment into a divine summons to lead others to freedom. This passage teaches us that when God says “go\,” it’s not about our qualifications\, but our willingness to trust and respond. Through this message\, we are reminded that God often calls us in unexpected ways—and with that call comes the power\, presence\, and purpose we need to step forward in faith. \n8:45\, 10:00 & 11:15 am services \n  \n\n  \nThis Sunday is part of the Summer in the City Series: \nLessons From the Desert\nEach Sunday in July\, we will gather for fellowship\, beloved hymns\, and an uplifting summer sermon series. This month\, we will reflect on Lessons From the Desert. Through the stories of Abraham\, Jacob\, Joseph\, and Moses\, we’ll see how God meets us in the wilderness with grace\, guidance\, and surprising gifts. From wandering to wonder\, the desert becomes holy ground when we walk it with God. \nJuly 6 | Genesis 12:1-5 | Abraham: Never Too Old To Serve God\nJuly 13 | Genesis 28:10-22 | Jacob: You Never Walk Alone\nJuly 20 | Genesis 50:15-21 | Joseph: God’s Silver Lining\nJuly 27 | Exodus 3:1-10 | Moses: The Power of “Go” \n

SUMMARY:Sunday Worship: Joseph - God’s Silver Lining
DESCRIPTION:Rev. Geoff Beakley\, preaching \nJoseph: God’s Silver Lining\n– In Genesis 50:15-21\, Joseph responds to his brothers’ fear with grace\, assuring them that what was meant for harm\, God used for good. This passage teaches us that even in the midst of betrayal\, suffering\, or uncertainty\, God can weave redemption and purpose into our stories. Through this message\, we are reminded to trust in God’s ability to bring hope from hardship—and to become instruments of forgiveness and healing in the lives of others. SUMMARY:Sunday Worship: Jacob - You Never Walk Alone
DESCRIPTION:Rev. Geoff Beakley\, preaching \nJacob: You Never Walk Alone\n– In Genesis 28:10-22\, Jacob encounters God in a dream at a moment of loneliness and uncertainty\, receiving the promise of God’s constant presence and guidance. This passage teaches us that even in our most vulnerable or wandering seasons\, we are never alone—God walks with us\, speaks to us\, and invites us into a greater purpose. Through this message\, we are reminded that divine companionship can transform ordinary places into holy ground\, and fear into faith. SUMMARY:Sunday Worship: Abraham - Never Too Old To Serve God
DESCRIPTION:Rev. Josh Miles\, preaching \nAbraham: Never Too Old To Serve God\n– In Genesis 12:1-7\, God calls Abraham to leave behind the familiar and step into a future guided by faith and promise—at a stage of life when most would settle into comfort. This passage reminds us that it’s never too late to answer God’s call or take part in God’s unfolding story. Through this message\, we are encouraged to stay open to new beginnings\, trusting that age is no barrier to purpose\, growth\, and faithful service. SUMMARY:Sunday Worship: Faith That Cannot Be Distracted
DESCRIPTION:Rev. Bill Britt preaching \nFaith That Cannot Be Distracted\n– In Luke 9:51-62\, Jesus sets His face toward Jerusalem\, fully committed to His mission\, and calls His followers to a similar undivided focus. He challenges those who would follow Him to count the cost\, warning that true discipleship requires leaving behind distractions\, excuses\, and divided loyalties. This sermon will encourage us to cultivate a faith that stays steady and clear\, even when the path is difficult. We are reminded that following Christ means placing God above all else\, trusting that the journey with God is worth every sacrifice. \n8:45\, 10:00 & 11:15 am services

SUMMARY:Commemorative Worship with Bishop Robin Dease
DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, June 1\, 2025\n8:45\, 10:00\, and 11:15 am\nSomeone in the Crowd  |  Luke 11:27-28\nIn “Someone in the Crowd\,” Jesus is interrupted by a woman who blesses His mother for bearing Him\, but He redirects the focus\, saying\, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.” This brief but powerful exchange reminds us that true discipleship isn’t about proximity to holiness—it’s about faithful response to God’s Word. Jesus shifts the spotlight from admiration to action\, from sentiment to spiritual obedience. In a world full of noise and distraction\, He calls us to be more than spectators—to become listeners and doers. This passage invites us to reflect on our place in the crowd: Are we simply watching\, or are we truly following? \nOn June 7\, 1925\, the first public worship service of Peachtree Road United Methodist Church was held in a partially completed chapel. From those humble beginnings\, our church has grown to become one of the largest in Methodism. We are privileged to be a part of the brilliant ministry that has taken place here over the past century. Please join us to reflect on our rich history\, give thanks to God\, and anticipate our bright future. We are honored that the final worship services of the Centennial year will be led by Bishop Robin Dease. Come celebrate all we have accomplished\, and look forward to exciting days and good work ahead. \nMembers of Peachtree Road 50+ Years\nSunday\, June 1\, Narthex\nHave you been a member of Peachtree Road UMC for 50 years or more? SUMMARY:Three Choirs Festival
DESCRIPTION:Georgia State University Singers\, Deanna Joseph\, conductor\nEmory University Concert Choir\, Eric Nelson\, conductor\nUGA Hodgson Singers\, Daniel Bara\, conductor \nAn annual concert series favorite\, we present the premier ensembles of these prestigious University Programs. Enjoy a collaborative\, diverse\, and inspiring musical exchange with these talented singers. \nThis festival began in 2012 when Dr. Joseph and Dr. Bara wanted an opportunity for their choirs to hear each other sing\, given the limited opportunities in the busy life of a collegiate program. This annual collaboration evolved into a Three Choirs Festival in 2014 when the Emory University Concert Choir joined. At the conclusion of the concert\, the three choirs join to sing a combined piece. This year we are thrilled to have a new work commissioned for the combined choirs in honor of our Centennial. \nReception sponsored by the PRUMC Friends of Music following the concert. \n$15 suggested concert donation/$5 for students. \nProgram PDF\nLivestream \n

SUMMARY:Special Worship with Dr. Brent Strawn
DESCRIPTION:Dr. Brent Strawn is a professor of Old Testament studies at Duke University\, specializing in biblical interpretation\, the Psalms\, and the theological significance of the Hebrew Scriptures. His scholarship and teaching contribute to a deeper understanding of the Old Testament’s role in faith\, history\, and contemporary Christian thought. His presence in our worship services on March 2 is a meaningful opportunity to gain fresh insight into scripture from one of the leading voices in the field. \nIn 1 Chronicles 29:1-19\, King David leads the people in generously giving toward the construction of the temple\, acknowledging that all they have comes from God. This passage highlights the themes of stewardship\, humility\, and the recognition that true success is not just about achievement but about faithfulness to God’s purposes. \nDr. Brent Strawn’s sermon\, “Congratulations!…Not So Fast!”\, may challenge us to reflect on what comes after moments of accomplishment—reminding us that gratitude\, responsibility\, and continued devotion to God are essential in both seasons of celebration and transition. \n8:45\, 10:00 & 11:15 am services
