Sunday Worship: At Peace with the Waiting

Sunday, December 7, 8:45 am - 12:15 pm

Sanctuary

Rev. Bill Britt, preaching

At Peace with the Waiting
-In Matthew 3:1-12, John the Baptist appears in the wilderness calling people to repent and prepare for the coming of the Messiah. His message is urgent—God’s kingdom is near, and hearts must be made ready. Yet beneath the urgency lies a deeper truth about waiting faithfully. John reminds us that preparation is not passive; it’s an active turning toward God, a cleansing of what hinders peace. As we wait for Christ’s work to unfold—whether in Advent, in our lives, or in the world—we are invited to trust that the waiting itself is holy ground. In repentance and readiness, we find peace, knowing that God is already at work bringing new life to bear.

This Sunday is part of the Advent Series:

Prepare Him Room
Advent invites us to make space—in our hearts, our homes, and our world—for the coming of Christ. This series leads us through the longing and waiting of the season as we search for hope in darkness, learn to be at peace with the unknown, and open ourselves to the unexpected ways God shows up. As we draw closer to the light of Christmas, we rediscover the joy and wonder of Emmanuel—God with us—breaking in with grace and love for all.
